Karl Bratland
Karl Bratland spent six years as an assistant coach with the North Central College wrestling program, a premier Division III team. Bratland has helped the College to some of its most successful seasons in school history.
During his time there the Cardinals posted a 64-18 dual team record and were 17-1 in their respective conference. Bratland also personally coached 19 National Qualifiers and 13 All-Americans in his coaching career, including a national finalist.
He transitioned into the high school realm in 2011-12 as the head coach of Bartlett High school. While there he lead the team to one of its best seasons in history with a dual record of 16-4 and a third place finish in the conference tournament. He also coached an individual athlete to an IHSA state championship, the program’s first ever state champion. He was an assistant coach at Naperville North High school from 2012-2019. He also helps coach the IKWF club, Naperville Hammer Huskies.
Originally from Iowa, Coach Bratland has been wrestling since the age of five and has extensive knowledge in the sport of wrestling. In high school he was a four year varsity starter and a 3X state qualifier (1X state placer) compiling over 100 wins in his career at Humboldt High School in Humboldt, Iowa. He competed in college for the Wartburg Knights, a national powerhouse in Division III wrestling.
Bratland graduated from Wartburg College (Iowa) in 2004 and completed his master’s degree in exercise science from the University of Northern Iowa. He is also a Crossfit L-1 Trainer and has his USA Weightlifting L-1 Certification.
